Figure, Life Vignettes & Travel Memories

I have been drawing and painting since childhood. For as long as I can remember, I was attracted to the beauty of the human form, and sought an outlet for that expression.

Ultimately, I studied figure drawing with Andy Braitman at Braitman Studios in Charlotte, NC. From the very first session I felt as though I had found my true voice. It was as if I had been speaking a foreign language all my life and was at last able to express myself fluently. I eagerly honed my own figurative style primarily using charcoal as well as soft pastel.

Over time, I turned to acrylic paint for its versatility and permanence, and my focus began to shift toward life vignettes: intimate scenes that capture someone in a fleeting, candid moment. In these works, I am less concerned with the pose and more drawn to the emotional undercurrent or lived experience of the subject.

I am increasingly inspired by the interplay of person, place, and time in my subject matter. Most recently, these are told in an Evocative Travel Memories series. They are travel-inspired paintings that don’t merely depict persons, a village, or landscape, but convey the emotional resonance of a setting at a particular moment. My hope is that each piece evokes a visceral connection to both the location and moment in time from which the painting was conceived.
