Painting al fresco on a warm September day in Spain.
I’ve been told I see things differently.
Maybe I do.
I find this especially true when traveling abroad. To me the color of sunlight is warmer and more saturated in Tuscany. A winter dusting of snow creates an almost silver aura in the Slovakian landscape.
This clarity of sight is particularly striking in moments of observed innocence. Children playing in the sand and surf appear guileless. And bride is most beautiful when she thinks no one is looking.
But my greatest artistic joy is in drawing the human figure. It brings me to a state of pure, unblemished connection to humanity.
This is why I paint and draw. Because I see beauty in our world (in spite of our shortcomings) and want to capture not just what I see, but the emotional beauty I feel, so that others may experience it too.
